Lucy works for YWAM and has been based at their UK-HQ during the last several months, after 4 years spent in Southern Africa. During that time, after having done her DTS she served as a pregnancy and HIV counsellor at the Pregnancy Help Centre in Cape Town. While she was there she described her work:
"I counsel women who think that they might be pregnant. Many of the women are in an unplanned pregnancy and so the counselling includes looking at all of the options that they might consider in the crisis.
I am also involved in the pre- and post-test counselling of clients with regards to HIV/AIDS. I love working with young people, and enjoy opportunities where I can share my testimony and my heart to bring compassion to the issues surrounding pregnancy and HIV/AIDS."
HIV-AIDS Conference
More recently, Lucy has been asked to lead in the preparations and running of YWAM's HIV/AIDS Global Gathering in Uganda later on this year (May-June 2007). This is a big responsibility for her and a role she is excited about albeit a little daunted to be taking on!
