Role Purpose
This role provides leadership and strategic oversight for Saint Paul’s property and commercial development portfolio. It will drive major capital projects, develop sustainable revenue streams, and build the church’s long-term property strategy in alignment with its mission and values.
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the postholder will lead on Project Ezra (the major building development plan), advance the formation of a Staff Housing and Property Trust Portfolio, and explore commercial opportunities that strengthen financial sustainability. The role requires strong strategic, relational, and technical skills to translate vision into deliverable plans within a complex heritage and governance context.
Key Responsibilities
Property Strategy and Development
• Lead and coordinate Project Ezra from design to delivery, aligning scope, budget, and mission.
• Develop a comprehensive property strategy that integrates ministry needs and future growth.
• Oversee redevelopment plans for the sanctuary, office facilities, and potential new builds.
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations and Head of Finance & Governance to create financially viable and mission-aligned business models.
Planning, Compliance and Governance
• Manage all Church of England faculty processes and liaise with the Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC).
• Ensure compliance with planning and heritage requirements (Historic England, LBHF Council, TfL, Parks Department, and others).
• Develop robust governance frameworks for capital projects, reporting regularly to the PCC, Standing Committee, and Property Governance Group.
• Prepare papers, briefings and presentations to support decision-making and transparency.
Commercial Opportunities and Income Generation
• Identify and develop sustainable revenue streams from the St Paul’s site, including:
o Car parking and site usage
o Advertising and sponsorship potential
o Commercial hires and partnerships
o Grants and external funding for building works
• Work closely with the Head of Finance & Governance on financial modelling, and with the Head of Logistics on operational delivery.
• Assess new commercial initiatives for alignment with the church’s ethos and long-term strategy.
• Support applications for public and charitable funding to enable capital development.
Stakeholder and External Engagement
• Serve as primary contact for architects, consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities.
• Build strong working relationships with the Diocese of London, LBHF Council, Historic England, TfL, and community partners.
• Represent Saint Paul’s with professionalism, clarity and integrity in all external relationships.
• Foster internal communication and collaboration across staff and ministry teams.
Financial and Project Oversight
• Support the development of viable business plans, cashflow modelling and risk analysis for major projects.
• Work with the Head of Finance & Governance to manage budgets, procurement, and contractual agreements.
• Contribute to the formation and management of the Staff Housing and Property Trust Portfolio, including acquisition and stewardship planning.
Internal Property Projects
• Oversee smaller property works requiring faculty approval or governance sign-off.
• Partner with the Head of Logistics to plan phasing, site impact, and operational delivery.
• Maintain clear documentation, risk registers, and reporting within Operations HQ.
Person Specification
Essential
• Proven experience in property development, construction project management, or estates strategy.
• Strong understanding of planning, governance and stakeholder management.
• Track record of delivering capital projects on time and within budget.
• Ability to identify and develop commercial or income-generating initiatives.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Collaborative, values-driven approach with resilience and attention to detail.
Desirable
• Experience with listed buildings or heritage sites.
• Understanding of Church of England faculty processes and charity governance.
• Experience of grant applications or fundraising for capital projects.
• Relevant professional qualification (e.g. RICS, APM, MRICS, or equivalent).

Role Purpose
The Safeguarding Officer serves as the Parish Safeguarding Officer, providing leadership, oversight, and operational delivery of safeguarding across all areas of church life. This role exists to ensure that St Paul’s is a safe and trusted community, where safeguarding is embedded not just in policy, but in culture, leadership, and everyday practice. The postholder will lead on safeguarding compliance, case management, training, and systems, while working closely with staff, volunteers, and the Diocese to uphold best practice. This is both a specialist and relational role, requiring wisdom, discretion, and clarity in handling sensitive situations, alongside the ability to build a culture of awareness, accountability, and care.
This role is not carried in isolation. The Safeguarding Officer will be supported by a wider safeguarding team, including trained staff, with deputising cover during leave periods and administrative support for key processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safeguarding Leadership and Oversight
Serve as the Parish Safeguarding Officer, holding responsibility for safeguarding policy and practice.
Ensure full compliance with national Church of England safeguarding guidance and diocesan requirements.
Act as the primary safeguarding contact for the church, responding to concerns and disclosures.
Work closely with the Diocese of London Safeguarding Team on all referrals and case management.
Work alongside and equip a wider safeguarding team, ensuring shared ownership and appropriate delegation of safeguarding responsibilities.
Advise senior leadership and PCC on safeguarding matters, risk, and best practice.
Ensure safeguarding is embedded across all ministries, departments, and activities.
2. Case Management and Response
Receive, assess, and manage safeguarding concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records in line with data protection and diocesan standards.
Liaise with statutory agencies where required, including social services and police.
Provide guidance and support to ministry leaders handling safeguarding situations.
Ensure appropriate risk assessments and safeguarding plans are in place where needed.
Operate within agreed safeguarding response frameworks, including shared escalation pathways and team support for out-of-hours situations where appropriate.
3. Policy, Compliance and Governance
Lead the development, implementation, and annual review of safeguarding policies.
Ensure all church activities comply with safeguarding requirements, including children, youth, and vulnerable adults.
Oversee safer recruitment processes, including DBS checks and safeguarding declarations.
Ensure safeguarding audits, action plans, and diocesan returns are completed accurately and on time.
Prepare safeguarding reports for PCC and senior leadership.
4. Training and Culture Building
Deliver and coordinate safeguarding training for staff and volunteers.
Ensure all required safeguarding training levels are completed and up to date.
Equip ministry leaders with confidence and clarity in safeguarding practice.
Promote a culture of vigilance, care, and accountability across the church.
Act as a visible and trusted point of contact for safeguarding questions and support.
5. Systems and Administration
Maintain safeguarding databases, records, and documentation systems.
Track training, DBS status, and compliance across teams.
Develop clear processes and workflows to support safeguarding across departments.
Work with Operations to ensure systems are integrated and sustainable.
6. Collaboration and Integration
Work closely with Kids, Youth, Pastoral, and Ministry teams, alongside the wider safeguarding team, to support safeguarding practice.
Partner with Operations on safer recruitment, onboarding, and compliance systems.
Contribute to shaping a church-wide culture of care, safety, and accountability.
Engage with diocesan networks and safeguarding forums as required.

A committed Christian with a mature and grounded faith.
Strong understanding of Church of England safeguarding policy and practice.
Experience in safeguarding, case management, or a related field.

Role Overview:
As a Site Support Team Member, you will play a crucial role in the logistical and hospitality aspects of our church services and events. Your responsibilities will include:
Venue Preparation: Setting up and resetting chairs and equipment for services and events.
Opening and Closing: Ensuring the church is securely opened before and locked after events.
Health & Safety: Monitoring the premises to ensure safety protocols are followed.
Hospitality Support: Assisting the Hospitality Team in welcoming attendees and addressing any queries.
Grounds Patrol: Regularly checking the church grounds to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Working Hours:
This is a casual role offering flexible hours based on your availability. Support is primarily required on Sundays, with additional opportunities during midweek events, including weekday evenings and occasional daytime activities. Typical shift patterns include:
Sunday Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Sunday Evening Shift: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Weekday Evening Shift: Typically from 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM (times may vary depending on the specific event)
Daytime Activities: Occasionally required to support events during weekdays, as needed.
You do not need to be available for all these shifts, as we can tailor your rota around your current schedule and availability.
