We’re so excited you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus. We’d love to support you in your next steps as you embark on this life long journey of discipleship.
Below are some resources and ideas of how to develop rhythms and learn how following Jesus can impact your everyday life.
-
Step 1: Pray
Prayer is simply talking to God. He is not far off; the Bible describes Him as a good Father who loves to connect with His children (James 4:8, Revelation 3:20, 2 Corinthians 6:16–18).
Find a space away from distractions and tell God what you’re thinking and feeling. You might want to write it down or say it out loud - whatever feels comfortable to you. Then, be still for a few minutes and allow God to speak to you. He may speak through a thought that comes to mind, an image that suddenly appears, or a feeling of peace. It can look and feel like many things.
Step 2: Read the Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the best place to get to know the heart and character of God. It’s a big book, so we’d recommend starting in the New Testament with one of the books we call the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John).
You can find plans to help you work through and reflect on the Bible in apps like YouVersion or on websites like BibleProject.
Step 3: Get Baptised
Baptism is a public declaration of the inward choice you’ve made to follow Jesus. It’s at the heart of an amazing journey of faith as a follower of Jesus.
We welcome anyone to be baptised who has begun this new life with Jesus and regularly attends one of our Sunday in-person gatherings. If you would like to be baptised or renew the baptismal vows taken on your behalf as a child, you can click here for more information.

Explore life, faith and meaning.
Alpha is a 10-week course for people who are exploring Christianity or are new to faith in Jesus. Each week, we eat together, watch a short video and then discuss a topic around the big questions of faith and life.
The course is a series of group conversations that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment. Everyone’s welcome.
Find details of our next course here, or find a course near you.

We would love to journey with you as you explore what living out your faith looks like. If you’re thinking about making Saint Paul’s your church, we’d love to connect with you and support you as you take your next steps. Here are a few ways to get involved:
Stay in the Loop – Sign up to our church mailing list to stay up to date with everything happening at Saint Paul’s. You’ll hear about upcoming events, courses, church news and opportunities to get involved.
Explore Foundations – Foundations is our discipleship course that builds on Alpha, unpacking key elements of following Jesus as well as the core values and culture of Saint Paul’s.
Join a Team – Serving is one of the best ways to get to know people and become part of the community. There are lots of teams to choose from, with Home Team being a great place to start.
Join a Life Group – Life Groups meet regularly in people’s homes to support one another on the journey of faith. Groups vary in age, style and location, so you can find a group that suits you here.
Visit Community Hub – Community Hub is a space for anyone who needs hot food, a warm space or somewhere to receive support. Everyone is welcome, and we hope it will be a place where you can find community, connection and care.
Meet One of the Team – If you’d like to get to know Saint Paul’s a little more or have any questions, we’d love to meet you. Get in touch and we’d be delighted to arrange a coffee and a chat with someone from our team.
